"Monument" - a conceptual landscape

At the end of the eightieth photographers of " a new wave ", working in the field of the reporting, have made group "Gosprom" where have come M.Pedan, V.Starko, I.Manko, L.Pesin, G.Maslov, S.Bratkov, K.Mel'nik.

Part of "Gosprom" - G.Maslov (USA), L.Pesin (Australia), S.Bratkov (Russia), M.Pedan (Sweden) - have emigrated. They have not left photo, and in this sense have not left numbers of " the Kharkov photoschool ", carrying its achievements in other geographical contexts.

Two revolutionary exhibitions in the Palace of students: "F-87" и "F-88" are connected to Michael Pedan's name at the end of 80th years . It were the first material, connected with real political strike, steps of reorganization. They demonstrated an output of the Kharkov photo from underground in public sphere. Social activity of the reporting was counterbalanced by delicate properties of author's works of M.Pedan. At that time his criterion in the attitude to a photo was a word "thin".

Prolongation of the "thin" direction declared by him in eightieth also is now found out. His photo are designed for the "thin" spectator.

The maintenance of an exhibition - a conceptual landscape.
Shooting wideformat the chamber 4"х5" assumes careful nursing, search points of shooting. The author works above the plots connected to the city environment which symbolical code for him is "monument". Objects are important for him on a degree of influence on inclusion of " feeling of city ". Therefore at traditional Micky Mouse or "banana" on a children's playground, a water tower or city library the same chances to get in a visual number of a series of Michael Pedan "Monument", as at an impressive skyscraper on the sizes. The author approves, what exactly these "monuments" create unique shape of this or that city.
